This 6-week workshop is designed to introduce the concepts and principles of classical ballet technique to adult beginning students. You will learn the basic Ballet vocabulary and discover a world where discipline and refinement meet.

The workshop builds week after week, starting win an introduction to the basic positions and movements of ballet, building strength and control at the barre, then ending with work in the middle of the room. For the beginning dancer who has completed our Level 1 series or who already has some barre experience, this series will expand on your work through incorporating more movement and balance.

The work at the barre becomes more complex, giving the dancer opportunity to feel their center, control their dynamic movement and improve their lines.
Moreover, this class will emphasize moving the elements of barre work into learning the foundational steps and combinations in the center.

Beginner Ballet Series Level 3

Beginner Ballet Series Level 3

July 22th – August 12th
Wednesdays, 5:45 – 7:45pm

$150 for full series

Beginner Ballet Level 3 continues mastering the concepts, principles and technique learned in Levels 1 & 2. This class is perfect for dancers with basic experience learning to better understand the depth and subtleties that make ballet so lovely and fluid.

This class focuses on head and arm placement at the barre. The movements will engage the dancers to become stronger, more flexible, and more aware of their weight shifts with increasingly challenging sequences.

The work in the center is more detailed, covering fluidity in simple phrases, directions and use of space through traveling exercises.

This class is about taking the words and simple phrases of Levels 1 & 2 and using them to make sentences with grace and polish.

Beginner Ballet Series Level 4

Beginner Ballet Series Level 4

December 2 – December 16th 2020
Wednesdays, 5:45 – 7:45pm

$150 for full series

Beginner Ballet Level 4 reviews all the material learned in the previous levels while enhancing musicality, breath and energy. Exercises including intricate foot work, strength training, and balancing on one leg will give the dancer more control to dance in the Center.

The work in the Center will expand into increasingly challenging ballet phrases and exercises in all 9 directions while training fluidity, dynamics and level variations.

Dancers will learn how to coordinate the arms, head and foot work while incorporating musicality in adages. All of the strength and endurance developed during the barre will be utilized during longer jump combinations.

This is the culmination of our Beginner Ballet series and will prepare the dancer to feel comfortable and prepared for any beginner to early intermediate ballet class, and begin to truly feel as though they are dancing rather than merely reciting movements.
